DIVA 2012 has arrived.....

The story behind DIVA is inspired by the women of Film Noir who, escaping their tragic destinies, embark on an adventure together by joining a runaway circus. These are the hats that the characters played by Joan Crawford and Lauren Bacall would have worn as glamorous ring masters, fire eaters and beautiful acrobats.

The designs in this collection pay homage to the period of the 1940’s and 1950’s whilst embodying a modernist structure. Colours are bold and rich with red, gold and black punctuated with animal print. The hats, manufactured by hand in London, feature glistening PVC, glittered quills, ostrich feathers, veiling and jewels.

A big thank you to photographer Rebecca Miller for capturing the mood of this collection and taking such amazing shots. And, to model Hannah Kuessner (Union Models) for playing the different diva roles so perfectly.

DIVA - Sneak Peek, January 2012

This shot is a sneak preview of Bedelia from Niamh’s new collection entitled “DIVA” which will be launching at the beginning of February in time for London Fashion Week.

Winter Wedding, Buxted Manor House, December 2011, Tara and Tim

Tara and Tim’s winter wedding allowed Tara to wear a beautiful ivory vintage stole (sourced by Niamh) which worked perfectly with the hat. The hat itself had a small base covered in ivory coque feathers with an antique brooch centrepiece. The birdcage veiling created a dramatic effect for the ceremony and champagne reception. The veiling was detached later for the evening as pictured.

Hoxton Wedding, London 2011, Katrin & Tom

Small white sinamy base with hand-made sculpture of stripped sinamy incorporated into the design of this decadent hat. The shape of the sculpture is sensual but modernist.

Katrin evokes images of a beautiful Grecian Goddess dressed in white out for a formal occasion (with the addition of some killer heels!) Katrin wears a bespoke white dress in a 1950’s style.

A breath-taking piece of costume jewellery adorns this hat together with white structured veiling and soft white marabou feathers that add a sexiness to this unique creation of Neo-Classical glamour.

Syon Park Wedding, London 2011, Imogen & Andrew

Medium sized sinamy base with double layer of dyed coque feathers hand-sewn on top. Feathers have been dyed a combination of soft cream and ivory, creating a dreamy vintage colour. A spectacular 1950’s piece of costume jewellery has been hand-sewn onto the hat.

Birdcage veiling sweeps over Imogen’s eyes, adding glamour and a coquettish feel making her a 1940’s film starlett. Imogen wears ivory Amanda Wakley bridal dress in a beautifully rich satin silk.

This piece was designed so that the veiling could be removed for the evening part of the wedding so that Imogen could enjoy wearing her hat as a head piece for dinner and dancing.
